David Lewis

Professional Experience
David is actively involved in providing audit, tax and consulting services to a wide variety of real estate, construction, professional services, and manufacturing & distribution clients throughout the western United States. He has also been heavily involved with tax structuring of mergers and acquisitions as well as federal and state tax minimization. David is a member of the American institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and licensed in Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. He also serves as a board member and audit committee chairman at First Utah Bank, Board chairman at the newly created Utah State Fairpark Authority, as well as the board chairman of Utah Industries for the Blind.

Mark is a CPA with more than 20 years experience in public and private accounting and joined HEB Advisors in October 2015. He is actively involved in providing audit and assurance services to a wide variety of construction, real estate, homeowner associations, and other privately held business clients in Utah and throughout the western United States. Mark is currently a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending time with his family and can be found skiing, hiking, or training for a triathlon.

Kevin is a CPA with more than 16 years of experience in public accounting. Kevin joined Platform Accounting Group in August of 2024. He has extensive experience with taxation, accounting, and consulting services for businesses, individuals, trusts, and Exempt organizations. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1997 from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY and his Master’s Degree from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2007. He received his CPA License from the State of Utah in 2012. Kevin enjoys spending time with his family and can often be found skiing, biking, or hiking.

His focus is on business and individual taxes (which includes tax planning) and has experience in the compilation area and with using QuickBooks software. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in 2004 and his master’s degree from Westminster College in 2006. He enjoys spending time with his family, golf, and traveling.

Doreen Arellano

Doreen has been an accountant for more than 20 years in public and private accounting. She joined HEB in June of 2018 and has been assisting clients in learning how to do some bookkeeping, assisting them with monthly and quarterly accounting. She prepares financial statements and compilations for clients, prepares sales and property tax and can assist with many other needs. Doreen enjoys dancing, going for walks and loves beach vacations.

Melissa is an Enrolled Agent (E.A.) with a passion for tax prep, planning, and being an advocate for clients in front of the IRS. She received her Bachelor’s in Accounting from the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Taxation from Weber State University. Melissa lives by the motto of work hard, and play harder. In the off season she enjoys traveling to exotic places and days on the lake with her family and friends.

He joined HEB Advisors in July 2023, bringing with him 1 year of experience in private accounting and 2 years in public accounting. Harrison has expertise in compilations, taxation, general accounting, and tax planning strategies. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors, engaging in woodworking projects, and restoring classic cars.

Emily is a part of the HEB team seasonally, as an individual tax return preparer. She has been preparing taxes for over a decade and has been with HEB for 6 years. She is always trying to stay up on the latest tax law, attending IRS seminars in person or online. Her ability to connect with her clients and make them feel prioritized, valued and understood is hard to beat. In her time out of the office, she is working as a hairstylist, making her clients feel beautiful, or she is hiking to the top of a mountain peak.

Denise is an Administrative Assistant at HEB Advisors with an extensive professional background in client relations, staff support and office management. She graduated from Ricks College and attended Brigham Young University-Hawaii and California State University San Bernardino to further her education. Outside work, she is an avid gardener and enjoys outdoor activities.

Meghan graduated with a BSc in Geospatial Intelligence from Brigham Young University in 2020. Following an internship in that field, her career took a sudden turn into the world of finance and she began work at a payroll & tax preparation company, where she spent the next 2 years. In 2023, she was hired by HEB Advisors, where she has been ever since, assisting with personal & business tax returns and administrative work. She is excited to soon start taking courses toward a Master’s in Accounting at the University of Utah. Outside of work, she enjoys playing tennis, baking, traveling, and learning languages.
